Leaping Leapfrogs!
Yes, sadly I've been amiss in posting. I promise it won't happen again and you'll see at least 2 new posts a week from me both here and at Petit Tableau!
We were invited to an event sponsored by LeapFrog and the kids had a blast! We're a bit technologically conservative so far as they are concerned. We didn't introduce movies or tv until Bubs was over a year old and he's just starting to "catch up" with mainstream media. Hey, he's 3 1/2, he's got his whole life to turn into a techie!
Well, I must admit I had a great time as well, not only because I think I'm at the point where I'm ready to introduce a bit of age-appropriate technology to the boys (in SMALL) does but also because I finally got to put names with faces of fellow Chicago Moms Bloggers. Yea! And, I did discover I am NOT the only one who uses technology regularly (ok, I'm a tech fiend) but who doesn't quite want their kids in the thick of it. The kids are both in a Montessori program and the school has ZERO computers in the classrooms, in fact, I think they still have dial-up. But, I like it. And, I think it works really well for the school.
So, what did we get to take home--such goodies!
- TAG reading system
- LEAPSTER 2 system
- FRIDGE Phonics
The TAG is a little beyond Bubs at this point but he really likes the LEAPSTER2. He's gotten the hang of the free drawing game and I'm definitely going to have to set up some rules on when and how often he can use it. Otherwise, I can see us going through crates and crates of batteries when winter arrives and playing outside isn't option.
So, our verdict so far...We're intrigued by the level of technology available to our children and think we'll be ok introducing it, again in SMALL doses. It will be interesting to see what skillset Bubs will aquire over the next few months and I'll be sure to keep you updated.
